Description

Apple Pie Egg Rolls are a fun twist on the classic dessert, combining the warm flavors of apple pie filling with the crispy texture of fried egg rolls. Perfect for a unique dessert or snack, they’re great with a side of caramel or vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Optional: caramel sauce for dipping

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
    • Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
    • Mix the cornstarch with water and add it to the apples. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface. Place about 2 tablespoons of the apple filling in the center of the wrapper.
    • Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
    • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Fry the Egg Rolls:
    • Heat about 1 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot (about 350°F / 175°C), carefully fry the egg rolls in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve:
    • Dust the egg rolls with powdered sugar. Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, you can bake the egg rolls in a 400°F oven for 12-15 minutes instead of frying them.
  • You can also add a pinch of cloves or ginger for extra flavor in the filling.
