Description

This Hot Honey Feta Chicken is the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Juicy, golden-brown chicken breasts are baked to perfection and topped with creamy, tangy feta cheese and a drizzle of homemade hot honey. It’s a simple yet flavor-packed dish that pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

For the Hot Honey:

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for depth)

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel.
  • Rub the chicken with olive oil, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and oregano.

2. Bake the Chicken:

  • Place the chicken in a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

3. Make the Hot Honey:

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika.
  • Stir and warm for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse. Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.

4. Add the Feta and Broil:

  • Remove the chicken from the oven and sprinkle crumbled feta evenly on top.
  • Place the dish under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, until the feta slightly melts and turns golden.

5. Finish and Serve:

  • Drizzle the hot honey generously over the chicken.
  • Garnish with lemon zest and fresh parsley.
  • Serve hot with your favorite sides like roasted veggies, couscous, or a crisp salad.

Notes

  • Adjust the Spice Level: Reduce or increase red pepper flakes in the hot honey to match your preference.
  • Air Fryer Option: Cook the chicken at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes, then add feta and broil for 2 minutes.
  • Meal Prep Friendly: This dish stores well for up to 3 days in the fridge and can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
